In this article: what is Asana, how does it work, enabling the integration, starting the timer in Asana.
What is Asana?
Asana is web based software-as-a-service designed to improve team collaboration. It focuses on allowing users to manage projects and tasks online without the use of email. Another cool thing about Asana is that you can easily import content (projects, etc) into Toggl from the Import and Export page.
NOTE: (Due to some recent changes in Asana’s API, we are no longer able to fetch tasks from Asana. Because of this we had to disable tasks synchronization on the Import page.)

How Does it Work?
By enabling this integration you will be able to track time in Toggl while using Asana. In other words, instead of visiting the Toggl website whenever you want to Start or Stop the timer you’ll be able to interact with the timer directly on the Asana website. With the integration active you will see a “Start timer” button inside the Asana interface.
Enabling the Toggl-Asana Integration
- Download and install the Toggl Button Chrome Extension.
- Open the extension Settings and click on the “Permissions” tab.
- Enable the asana.com integration.
Starting the Timer in Asana
To start tracking time in Asana simply click on the “Start timer” button located inside each Asana task. The name of the task you’re working on will be used as the description for your time entry.
