This feature allows you to set up custom hourly time estimates for your projects, monitor tracked hours for that project compared to your initial estimate and get alerted when total tracked hours for a project reach a certain percentage of that estimate.

Project Time Estimates is a Starter plan feature and can be set on the Project Edit page. To access the edit page for a specific project you must first locate the project using the filters available on the Projects page. Once you find the project you need simply click on it to access its edit page.

On the edit page you will see the option to set a time estimate, manual or task-based:

Task-based Estimation

To set a Task-based Estimate:

  • Locate the project you'd like to set the estimate for on the Projects page.
  • Open up Project Edit page by clicking on that project.
  • Choose “Task based” from the project time estimates field on the right side of the project edit page

At this point, you either need to have existing Tasks for that project or create a new task. To create a new task simply type in the name of your new task in the "Add new task..." field and click on the green "Add" button:

To add estimates to your tasks all you need to do is click on the text box under "Estimation (h)" and type an estimate of how many hours should that task take.

Manual Estimation

To set a manual estimation:

  • Locate the project you'd like to set the estimate for on the Projects page.
  • Open up Project Edit page by clicking on that project.
  • Click on Manual Estimation
  • Type in the number of hours in the text area next to "hours"

Tracking progress of your projects:

  • Overall number of tracked hours per Project can be viewed in Status column on the Projects page.
  • If you’ve set Project Time Estimates, you can also view the status of your progress.
  • Project Time Estimates lets you view whether you’re over on hours or on target based on the estimate you set.
  • The number to the left of the parentheses indicates how many actual hours have been logged
  • The number in parentheses is the estimate.
  • If you’ve exceeded the time estimate, the actual time tracked will turn red.

Please note that these hours are only displayed in whole numbers as a reference point. To see exact time logged, please go to Reports.

To see the progress of your Project as a whole, including Tasks, click the pie chart to open the Project Dashboard.
