Previously under Insights, these reports now provide more advanced profitability tracking across multiple levels. Analyze profitability, revenue, labor costs—breaking it down by Members, User Groups, Projects, Clients, Tasks, or Tags for a detailed view.

This way, you are now more equipped to improve pricing, staffing, and project budgeting decisions.

This report is only available for Premium users.

In this article we cover:

Date Picker

If nothing shows up on the report when you first load it, you may need to define a date range for the report. Click on This Week on the upper-left, below Filter by to choose a custom or preset date range. Also, make sure that your billable rates and labor cost are set up to make the best use of this report

See the Selecting a date range article for more details on using the Date Picker, especially for selecting custom date ranges.

Rounding

Enable or disable rounding for your time entries as needed by clicking the Rounding button and then choosing your desired settings.

Read more on Rounding here.

Filters

To run the report for all data, choose no Filters. However, if you want to filter what you are seeing, click on Add Filter button.

You can filter using various properties, and/or filters and therefore create powerful filters to drill down to the exact data you need to see in your reports!

The report updates automatically when you close a filter dropdown. More details are available through the Filtering reports article.

Summary

The Summary bar gives you some basic information about the data in your report.

This bar can show you up to 4 items by choosing them via the 3-dot control at the end. Choose between:

  • Total Hours

  • Billable Hours, as well as the billable percentage,

  • Revenue, your billable hours x billable rate in each of the currencies that the report has data from,

  • Average daily hours, calculated by dividing total hours by number of days,

  • Cost, your total hours x cost rate in each of the currencies that the report has data from,

  • Profit, the difference between your Revenue and Cost in each of the currencies that the report has data from. In the case of a Fixed Fee project, this is the difference between the Fixed Fee and Cost.

Multi-Line Chart

Below the Summary is a multi-line chart. It shows the trend of revenue, cost and profit per period, which depends on how long the report's date range is. You can choose which metrics you want to hide or show.

Bar charts

Below the multi-line chart, there are two bar charts that show top or bottom earning project, clients, members, tasks or tags. You can choose to show top or bottom 5 or 10 by clicking on the dropdown button. You can also change the selected property in its respective button

Table

Underneath the bars, there is a profitability table. You can group it by to 2 property of your choosing. The table comes with 4 columns as standard: revenue, project fixed fee, cost, profit and profitability. However, you can remove and/or add more columns.

  • Project fixed fee comes from the project settings;

  • Profitability is profit over revenue.
