In this article: what is Jira, how does it work, enabling the integration, starting the timer in JIRA.
What is JIRA?
JIRA is a software development tool designed to help ship software quickly and easily. It’s one of the most popular development solutions of its type available today. Much like Toggl it also has a great Reporting section 🙂
For more details about JIRA visit the following page: www.atlassian.com/software/jira
How Does it Work?
By enabling this integration you will be able to track time in Toggl while using JIRA. In other words, instead of visiting the Toggl website whenever you want to Start or Stop the timer you’ll be able to interact with the timer directly on the JIRA website. With the integration active you will see a “Start timer” button inside the JIRA interface.
Enabling the Toggl-JIRA Integration
- Download and install the Toggl Button Chrome Extension.
- Open the extension Settings and click on the “Permissions” tab.
- Enable jira.com and atlassian.com integrations.
Starting the Timer in JIRA
To start tracking time in JIRA simply click on the “Start timer” button located inside each JIRA task. The name of the task you’re working on will be used as description for the Toggl time entry.
