I want to delete my account and all my data

Closing an account

Closing an account will make your account inaccessible to you or anyone else. However, the data associated with the account won't be destroyed. Closed accounts can be restored upon request.

To destroy/erase all data associated with a user account a specific request must be made with the Toggl Support team.

I want all the data associated with my account deleted per GDPR

  1. Close your Toggl Track account. This can be completed from the Profile page. If you run into any obstacles while closing the account visit our article on How to Close a Toggl account.
  2. Send an email to support@track.toggl.com. Mention in the email that you would like to erase all of your Toggl Track data.

Closing the account is required as it verifies that you are the rightful owner of the account. We cannot proceed with the data erasure request without this step. If you also use Toggl Plan, you must close your Toggl Plan account as well.

  • Date erasure is final. This process is completely irreversible.
  • It may take up to one month for your data erasure request to be completed.
  • We don't send a separate confirmation once the deletion has been completed. No news is good news, so you can trust it's been processed within that timeframe unless you hear otherwise from us.
  • After we have completed the deletion, we have no record of that account on our end. Therefore, we cannot confirm if a data erasure request has been processed for a specific user in the past.

Verifying your identity before deletion

Before we can begin deleting your data, we need to confirm the request is coming from the valid account holder. To verify this, log into your account and close it yourself from Settings > Account Actions (for Toggl Focus, go to focus.toggl.com). Once the account is closed, reply to confirm and we'll proceed with the data erasure.

  • We aim to respond to any legitimate GDPR request within one month of its receipt. It may take longer if the request is particularly complex or if you have made several requests, in which case we'll keep you updated.
  • After we have completed the deletion, we have no record of that account on our end. Therefore, we cannot confirm if a data erasure request has been processed for a specific user in the past.
  • Canceling a request: If you change your mind before completing the account-closure step, the request will not have been processed and your account and data remain intact. Let us know and we'll confirm the request has been canceled.
  • After we have completed the deletion, we have no record of that account on our end. Therefore, we cannot confirm if a data erasure request has been processed for a specific user in the past.

Requesting a copy of your data (GDPR Article 15 access request)

If you want to access your data rather than delete it, you can export it yourself:

  • Profile data: Profile settings page > Export account data.
  • Projects, clients, etc.: Settings > Data export.
  • Time entries: Data export page, by typing the year you'd like to export.

Repeat the data export for any other organization where you have data by switching to that organization using the workspace selector in the top left-hand corner of the Toggl Track web app.
