Project Templates in Toggl Focus
Project templates let you save an existing project’s structure and reuse it when starting new projects. This saves time on setup and ensures consistency across similar projects.
What is a Project Template?
A project template captures the key settings and structure of an existing project — including project members, billing, estimates, tags and tasks — so you can quickly replicate it without starting from scratch.
What’s Included in a Template?
When you create a template from an existing project, the following information is carried over:
| Included | Not Included |
|---|---|
| Project members | Start and end dates |
| Tags | Task due dates |
| Billing rates & estimates | Timeline structure |
| Fixed fee settings | Milestone dates |
| Task list with assignments & durations |

FAQs
Why aren’t dates included in templates? In the first version of templates, dates have been intentionally left out to avoid complexity around automatically calculating task start dates and maintaining timeline structure. This may be revisited in a future release based on user feedback.
Can I edit a template after creating it? Yes — you can manage and edit your templates via the template management view in the Projects section.
