Asana Integration in Toggl 2.0

Overview

The Asana integration keeps your Asana work in sync with Toggl 2.0. Once you connect it, your Asana projects, tasks, and tags appear in Toggl 2.0 automatically, so your team can track and plan time against your existing Asana structure without recreating anything by hand.

The sync happens in real time: when you create a project, task, or tag in Asana, it shows up in Toggl 2.0 moments later.

The sync is one-way, from Asana to Toggl 2.0. Anything you change in Toggl 2.0 stays in Toggl 2.0 and is not sent back to Asana.

Plan availability

The Asana integration is available on the Premium plan and works across web, desktop, and mobile.

What gets synced

In Asana In Toggl 2.0
Project Project
Task Task
Tag Tag

Every synced project and task keeps a link back to the original item in Asana, so you can always jump back to the source.

Setting up the integration

The integration is set up by a workspace admin.

1. Connect Asana

  1. In Toggl 2.0, open the Integrations tab and click Connect to Asana.
  2. On the "Toggl wants to access your Asana" screen, click Allow. If you are not already signed in to Asana, you will be asked to log in first.
  3. You are taken back to Toggl 2.0 to finish setup.

2. Invite members (optional)

After you connect, Toggl 2.0 offers to invite your Asana members. This step is optional. You can Skip it and continue with just your projects, tasks, and tags.

3. Preview and start the sync

  1. Click Next to preview what will be imported. You will see the projects, tasks, and tags that are about to sync.
  2. Click Finish setup and sync.
  3. Your Asana projects, tasks, and tags start importing and appear in Toggl 2.0.

From this point on, new projects, tasks, and tags you create in Asana sync to Toggl 2.0 automatically and in real time.

Already using Asana with Toggl Track?

If your organization already connects Asana to Toggl Track and you plan to import or sync data between Toggl Track and Toggl 2.0, do not also connect Asana directly to Toggl 2.0. Connecting Asana in both places can create duplicate projects and tasks.

  • You use Asana with Track and your Track data flows into 2.0: keep your current setup. Your Asana items already reach Toggl 2.0 through Track, so there is no need to connect Asana again in Toggl 2.0.
  • You are moving fully to Toggl 2.0: connect Asana directly in Toggl 2.0 and remove the Asana connection in Track, so your data only syncs through one path.

If you are not sure which setup applies to you, contact our support team before connecting and we will help you avoid duplicates.

Good to know

  • The sync is one-way. Changes flow from Asana to Toggl 2.0, never the other way around. Editing or creating items in Toggl 2.0 does not change anything in Asana.
  • Keep linked project names stable. Renaming a project in Asana can break the link between it and the matching project in Toggl 2.0.
  • Very large Asana accounts may take longer to complete the first sync. If a sync seems stuck, reach out to support.
