Clearing the Local Data from Toggl Desktop

 

In this article: clear desktop app’s cache on Windows, Mac, Linux or manually.

 

You may need to clear your app’s cache when the local database has become corrupt or has some erroneous data in it. This can happen when application upgrade fails, computer has suddenly crashed or computer hard disk is faulty or full.

Please note that clearing the local data from Toggl Desktop deletes all of your unsynced data.

Clearing the Database Manually

If you’re unable to open the app, then you need to physically delete some files in order to flush the local database.

 

OSX: Regular version

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Type the following then hit Return: open ~/Library/Application\ Support/Kopsik
  3. In the Finder window that opens delete every file and folder from within the Kopsik directory.

 

OSX: App Store version

  1. Open Terminal.
  2. Type the following then hit Return: open ~/Library/Containers/com.toggl.toggldesktop.TogglDesktop/Data/Library/Application\ Support/Kopsik
  3. In the Finder window that opens delete every file and folder from within the Kopsik directory.

 

Windows

  1. Using Windows Explorer navigate to: C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\TogglDesktop
    . Easiest way to open up the correct location is to copy %LOCALAPPDATA%/TogglDesktop into the Explorer address bar and press Enter.
  2. Remove file named toggldesktop.db.

 

Linux

  1. Remove all the files from: /home//.local/share/Toggl/Toggl\ Desktop
