QuickBooks Online
Currently, Toggl only integrates with QuickBooks Online. If you're keen for the Desktop integration as well, please let us know via our Feature Requests forum!
The way QuickBooks (QB) and Toggl (T) correlate information is:
1) Client (QB) = Client (T);
2) Sub-client (QB) = Project (T);
3) Service (QB) = Task (T);
4) Employees (QB) = Workspace users (T);
5) Time tracking (QB) = Time entries (T)
The way information moves is:
-
Toggl imports from QuickBooks clients, sub-clients, services and employees (but not time tracking information);
-
Toggl exports to QuicBooks time entries only.
Important to know:
-
Toggl only exports time entries that are tracked to a project (i.e. sub-client in QB) that has come from QuicBooks. This means:
-
Your first step needs to be importing information from QB.
-
When you track time in Toggl, you need to make sure you track it to the projects and users that you imported from QB – these are the only time entries that Toggl can export back later.
-
If the Client you imported from QB does not have any sub-clients, you can track time to the Client in Toggl, but you won't be able to export that time back into QB (as it does not have a correlating sub-client, i.e. project).
-
-
One time entry can only be exported once. This means:
-
If after exporting a time entry to QB, you make changes to it in Toggl, the change will not appear in QB upon another export.
-
The only way to get the changed information to QB is by creating an entirely new time entry (using the 'add manually' function) in Toggl, which the program will then be able to export. (To avoid confusions, you should probably delete the old entry from QuickBooks :) )
