Thank's Alari for reply
--- 8< --- Q: What happens to the employees that I have had in the past but are not active any more - are they billed the same way?
A: All users that are listed on your Settings -> Team page, are charged for. When you remove a team member, they will no longer be counted as that workspace user and will not be charged for.

What happens to the stats of old team member if I delete that=

Hi,
You can still view all time entries that the user has recorded up to that point when you select 'all users' in your report filters.
Best,
Liisa

This is just economics and trying to find an optimal revenue point. If they lose 50% of their customers but get 75% more from the customers they have now, that's a 25% increase. Sounds pretty good, right? Three months is just long enough for those of us to put off moving away quickly in the back of our mind, but just short enough to start charging higher prices sooner. It's smart, and I don't blame Toggl, as most of us would probably do it. We have expenses that need to be paid and a Government that takes 50%, so, duh we need to charge me. Obviously, the pricing is too steep for most of all the users commenting.
I would set up the pricing structure like so:
1-4 Users $5/user
5-10 Users $3/user
11-20 Users $2/user
21-50 Users $1/50/user
More users, custom plan.
So, if your team has 3 users, it will be $15/month. 7 users will be $29/month. 12 users $39/month. This allows for building of the customer base and actually encourages growth for the business.

We've had some struggles with using Toggl effectively in the past, it just doesn't cope well with a vast number of mini-projects we manage.
With a rapidly growing team I'm not committing to an annual plan that I may or may not use.
Toggl, the time has come to say goodbye.
No more recommendations or referrals from me.

Unfortunately I can't justfy this price increase to managment, so we will have to look for alternatives. Thanks to all that posted suggestions. See ya Toggl!

Unfortunate, I really like the service, and was willing to grow with it, but this almost doubles the price, no thanks, we will code our own WP based solution. All the luck to the team, good service, just has become to expensive.

This unreasonable price increase reinforces my distrust of software as service. I will be abandoning Toggl shortly, replacing it with purchased (or free) software. I want to control my costs, no matter if some guy in Estonia decide he needs a bigger boat.
Anyone have a suggestion for Mac software?

Test - is this thing on?

We fully understand your frustration on the price change, and we're not happy to see users leaving.
Still we will keep to the new price point, as we're certain that Toggl provides our users enough value to justify the price.
Toggl's main value lies in its ability to on the one hand save time, and on the other hand to increase earnings thanks to more effective tracking of the time spent. For example if your hourly rate is $20, Toggl needs to save or earn you only 15 minutes each month to cover its cost.
I'd like to thank all users that have understood and accepted the update. We promise to live up to the new price level. We have been investing our revenues into Toggl for the last 4 years, and will continue doing so. There are many new features and updates in the pipeline, and our development efforts are continuously increasing.
If you need more than 3 months of transition time, then please let us know at support @ toggl.com and lets work it out.

We really should not care, if one of Toggls stakeholders is going to buy a bigger yacht from the revenues of his business. He will do so, if time has come. On the other hand, Toggl's representatives should not arguee, that their service only costs about 15 minutes of my time as long as I earn $20 per hour. (Then what's the price in periods my business incurs losses?) What counts is competitiveness and the value for money offered here. Such a drastic change in price now makes it much easier to leave and to check out Toggl's competitors. (May be we'll come back one day.) Currently our favorite among all known alternatives is "mite", but there are others on the list:
www.pivotaltracker.com
www.getharvest.com
www.paymo.biz
mite.yo.lk
I'd like to encourage everyone to report her/his experiences with these or other cloud based services for time tracking.

I really don't understand some of you here. You moan that 5$ per user is too much and then threaten to migrate to alternatives that are more expensive (Mite: 5€; Getharvest 10-12$ per user and month). What kind of argument is that now?
Remember that there is also still the free Toggl option. For most purposes that is actually enough. I only subscribed to the paid plan because I think Toggl is worth supporting. The additional features are nice but not essential.

@Info: I'm pretty sure you've not read any of the comments. Getharvest is more expensive but it does far, far more than toggl making it a more worthwhile investment for the cost. Toggl is not worth the cost for the value.

What a surprise, I just discovered the email with the news that for our team of 17-20 people we'll need to pay 100 $ per month instead of 39 $, that's a factor 2.6 price increase, I never saw that in my life I think.
On one hand, your move is probably smart, paying per user is easier than having levels as you had. I always challenged each new person in our Toggl because I wanted to stay below the 20 users, and I needed to delete the users as soon as their job were done. Some user register 2 hours per month in the system, some other much much more of course. On another side, I think charging per project is also wise, it's not smart to prevent administrator from adding new people to a platform, you want to be used by a maximum of people, no?
After the big alert about the notes you wanted to remove and your serious availability issues, this is a strange timing for more than doubling your prices. An increase of 20-30 % would have been fair if you say your prices are fixed for the last 2 months, but not such a tremendous increase.
Moreover, when challenging deeply Toggl against it's competition, price has been one of the important point for us, many competitors do a lot more than what you do (sometimes also better) but they also loose track on simplicity, which is something you did well.
(excellent post by Guy Paddock by the way)

Completely ridiculous, I can't believe Toggl is doing this. I like many others here fought for our company to switch to this platform a year ago and now this is how we're treated? I'm looking into switching our company off in the next month (kiss another $40/mo goodbye)
Here are some solutions I've seen that look like they might do the job -
makesometime.com
teamlab.com
freedcamp.com
subernova.com
I'll keep checking out more as well, thanks for the nice holiday present Toggl...
