Main site is online, but client applications are having problems logging in. We are looking into these issues now.

We have narrowed the problems with client apps down to the SSL handshake which is failing. We are investigating the issue currently.

Toggl Desktop on Windows cannot log in for me either. By the way, it only says "Login failed." You may want to make it a bit more specific, so in the future we get a better sense of what's going on. For example, For about 5 minutes I thought I was entering the wrong password--a waste of time.

We're having issues with Toggl Desktop on Windows and Mac, and iPhone and Android apps, which fail logging in. It is caused by the fact that our load balancer is configured in a different way than previously. We are working to get it fixed asap. Will get back to you with ETA soon.

I use the Desktop App. When I try to log into the website to track time, it says my password is invalid. When I try to retrieve my lost password, it says my email address does not exist. Any ideas?

Thank you for your professionalism with the frequent updates. I empathize about such data center problems, having gone through a similar episode at our company. We also decided at that time on moving our data center to Rackspace, and while they're not perfect, they've been pretty good. In your longer-term remediation plan, you might also consider a DR site for when these types of things occur.

Great work guys! No doubt you guys put forth tremendous effort to get this all resolved.
As many others have said, the disappointment of many at having to deal with the downtime speaks volumes as to how valuable and irreplaceable the toggl service is.

I think I speak for every one of your customers when I said, "I LOVE TOGGL!"

There were a number of posts yesterday saying in effect "Toggl is down, I can't work". Yes, Toggl had some issues, and it can be argued that they should have had a more robust failover in place.

    But....

Shame on those who didn't have their own failover in place for a mission critical applicaiton. Basic "disaster recovery" says that you should "Be Prepared". Taking for granted that a service, no matter how robust, will always be there is both short sighted, and lazy. Even if only casually discussed, there should be some kind of plan, or at a minimum a general direction established for a total system failure on any mission critical application.

Yes, users have a right to be dissapointed at the downtime, but they also have a responsibility to their business to be able to function in any situation. If some of those constantly complaining yesterday would have spent as much time thinking as they did posting, they may have realized that something Excel, Outlook Calendar, or (EGAD!) dead trees (paper) might have gotten them through the day. Ideal, definitely not. Workable? If not, then you really should have some type of backup in place.

I managed OK without Toggl yesterday - used old fashioned pen and paper to record things. The only thing I've lost is all my Toggl entries for August 10. There's nothing showing after August 9. I can restore most of them from memory but it's a lesson to always have some kind of backup in place.

Toggl is down again for me today. https://www.toggl.com/ appears to be stuck in a redirect loop. DNS issue?

I'm connecting from an ISP in Norcross, GA, USA.

    Hi Team,
Toggl is also down for me. I can bring up the task page no problem and it searches for matching jobs when I type however the 'Start' button does nothing when clicked.

Great tool you have here and obviously well used. Hopefully it'll be running smoothly again before long!!

    Cheers

I know you mentioned Toggl desktop was working again, but I'm still having issues. I'm on OSX and every time I try to launch, it's unable to login and the app just shuts down ("TogglDesktop quit unexpectedly"…). My google login also fails if I try to enter it in manually.

@Jraffensperger, thank you for your kind words. Unfortunately, the "be prepared" applies to us as well and it's a shame we did not live up to expectations. We are now starting to implement other failover measures to be better prepared for next time.

@Chris - did you use Toggl Desktop? Unfortunately for some users the sync after crash did not succeed. If yo used website, we'd like to know more, so please let us know through feedback.

@James D - have your troubles resolved now? Please let us know via feedback or send an e-mail to support at toggl dot com.

@Rossgoodwin1, Ajagelund, Ksandness - please send feedback through Toggl interface and we try to get it working for you.

As the situation seems to be stabilized, I'm closing this thread. Thank you for the feedback and getting through this very tough situation with us!
